Heading Towards True North
The key to a successful High Growth Enterprise Coaching programme is clarity. Clarity regarding the client’s goals and objectives; clarity regarding the process; and clarity regarding the performance metrics and critical success factors.
Using the metaphor of ‘True North’, if the goals and objectives represent where ‘True North’ lies, then the evaluation plan represents the compass that enable the client and coach to stay on course.
Stages 1, 2 and 3 Engaging, Exploring and Visioning involve clarifying and defining the client’s goals and objectives. The goals and objectives provide the benchmark against which the success of the High Growth Programme will be measured. The focus of evaluation during these stages is defining the results and outcomes and preparing the evaluation plan.
During Stage 4 and 5 Implementing and Reviewing and Sustaining the focus of evaluation is monitoring and checking progress against the defined goals and objectives. Key questions during these stages revolve around asking questions such as:
- Are the activities being implemented as planned?
- Are the activities generating the progress and results that are required?
- What modifications are required to address underperformance or slippage?
