Training Models
The systematic training model consists of five phases and should be. The training should achieve the purpose of helping the client to perform their work to required standards. The steps involved are:
The Systematic Training Model
Step 1: Analyse and identify the training need, then develop a performance measure on the basis of which actual performance post training will be evaluated.
Step 2: Design training to meet identified needs. This step requires developing aims and objectives for the training, and identifying the best approach.
Step 3: Develop. This phase requires identifying the content of the training programme that will assist the participants to learn; selecting the delivery method; examining the training material; and validating the information to be imparted to make sure it will achieve all the goals & objectives.
Step 4: Execute is about delivering the training programme and can be the hardest part because one wrong step can lead to the failure of whole training program.
Step 5: This involves Evaluating each phase to make sure it has achieved its aim in terms of subsequent work performance and making necessary amendments to any of the previous stages in order to remedy or improve aspects which have not worked well.
The ABC Model
Many training sessions can be designed using the ABC Model.
The ABC Model
ATTENTION:
What – Tell them what the training will cover
Interest – Tell them something to grab their attention and gain their interest in the training
Need – Explain why they need the training
BREAKDOWN:
Break the learning down into small, manageable bite sized chunks
CHECK:
Test and check that the skill or knowledge has been attained (through observation, questions or other methods)
